Neel is the managing partner and founder of Neel Shivam Lawyers . Neel graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Waikato in New Zealand and obtained his post-graduate Professional Diploma in Legal Studies, from the University of the South Pacific. He was admitted to the High Court of Fiji in 1998.

Neel spent the initial years of his career in private practise as a litigation lawyer; he was co- counsel in the Chandrika Prasad case, hailed as the greatest constitutional case to be ruled on by the Courts of Fiji.This case gave back to Fiji its much acclaimed 1997 Constitution after the 2000 Coup.

One of the first from his peers to establish his own legal practice Neel Shivam Lawyers , Neel's objectives of opening a new firm was to provide his clients with professional and ethical services often lost with practitioners.

Neel's practice has a particular emphasis on administrative banking and finance, company, employment, foreign investment, intellectual and real property law. He is a keen litigator and handles a wide range of civil litigation matters including leading the firm's criminal pro-bono work.

Neel is a Council Member and the Treasurer of the Fiji Law Society.

He is an avid sportsman and known to regularly organise social soccer matches between members of the legal fraternity and corporate houses in his leisure time.


Partner

Shoma Deven is a graduate of Universtiy of the South Pacific, 1998. Graduate of Institute of Justice and Applied Legal Studies, 1999.

Ms. Devan heads the firm's litigation practice group and practices in appellate and general litigation, specializing in complex commercial law suits, with emphasis on contract law, intellectual property, labour and employment, personal injury, insurance, industrial law, industrial arbitration and disputes.

Prior to joing the firm, Ms. Devan worked for Fa and Company as an Associate and subsequently employed as a Senior Associate for two other law firms, Patel Sharma and Associates and G.P. Lala and Associates.

Ms. Devan is a member of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association, a leading professional association for lawyers in the Asia Pacific region. She is also a member of Fiji Young Lawyers Association and the Fiji Law Society.


Poonam , a partner at Neel Shivam Lawyers, gained her degree of Bachelor of Laws from the University of Waikato, New Zealand and her post- graduate professional qualifications from the Institute of Justice and Applied Legal Studies in Hamilton, New Zealand. She was admitted to the High Court of New Zealand in 2001 and the High Court of Fiji in 2002.

Poonam practises principally in commercial areas- providing commercial advice, litigating in the areas of creditors' remedies and drafting commercial contracts. With excellent research, communication and inter-personal skills, Poonam is a creative thinker. She works constructively with a diverse range of personalities and cultures which makes her an adaptable flexible asset to Neel Shivam Lawyers .






Armish Pal

Armish Pal , is an associate with the firm and is a graduate of the University of the South Pacific (2006) and the Institute of Justice and Applied Legal Studies (2007). He joined Neel Shivam Lawyers in 2007.

Mr. Pal is part of the firm's litigation team and is engaged in a number of areas of law which includes contract law, personal injury, criminal litigation, intellectual, family and commercial law.

Mr. Pal is also an Executive Member of the Fiji Young Lawyers Association and is a firm beleiver in the empowerment of young lawyers to maintain the high standards of practice of the legal fraternity.

Mr. Pal is a keen sportsman and plays soccer for the Fiji Law Society's soccer team.
